The Essential Guide to Mastering MadCap Flare
A Great Resource
Amazon.com, April 11, 2022
As anyone who works with Madcap Flare knows, it can be a bear to work with. It is a very powerful authoring tool with many features, so many in fact that you might find you are spending too much time trying to understand how to use it, even with the training that Madcap Flare offers.
That's where this book comes in. It is a handsome, well-thought-out, comprehensive book that belongs in every Technical Documentation department where Madcap Flare is the primary authoring tool. With its clear and easily understood writing style, it describes nearly every Flare feature and operation.
As a technical writer with several years of experience using Madcap Flare, I was immediately attracted to this book because of its visual appeal and the overall logical structure that offers a useful roadmap for traversing the sometimes maddening software that is Madcap Flare.
Each chapter is quite comprehensive, as one would expect with a subject as complex as Flare. That's why it was such a relief for me to find that the presentation of each chapter is logical and easy to follow. All the topics within a chapter are described with sufficient detail and figures to ensure that the meaning is clear. Each topic has a "Basic Concept" and "Essential Elements" section; I especially liked the "Quick Steps" section at the end of each chapter which provides a handy working example.
The book has several practical appendices that describe key Flare features, stylesheets, and an extensive very informative glossary. It also has a proper index.
In closing, this is a book that you can use as a reference and return to time and again when working with Madcap Flare. Highly recommended!
If you are getting started with Madcap Flare, THIS should be your go-to book.

I have personally purchased and reviewed this book. I was part of a team that migrated from Framemaker to Madcap Flare and I wish we had this book to help and guide us then. We spent two years researching, learning, and implementing. Each topic in Flare is explained in detail with a procedure and real-time examples. If you or your team are new or getting started with Flare, this book will be an excellent resource. By following this book, you or your team can build and deliver a document from scratch using Flare. Good luck!
STEP 7 in 7 Steps
Awesome book! Amazon.com
I recently changed careers from an EE Design Engineer to a Controls Engineer. I knew nothing about controls engineering and programming but was hired on my word that I could pull it off. STEP 7 Programming Made Easy, provided the guidance I needed on my first project – a Siemens project. Thanks to this book, I’m well on my way.
Amazing books! Amazon.com
Most of my new career has been working with STEP 7 controls and understanding STEP 7 code. Although I am still in training, these books have given me a step ahead in the learning curve. The books were suggested to me by a senior tech/programmer. Neither of us has a degree, yet we could comprehend these books and profit from them. Thank you, C.T. Jones.
Deserves a place in your reference library! Amazon.com
In simple and articulate terms, Mr. Clarence Jones has written about the Siemens S7 modular PLC systems. I highly recommend his book to anyone interested in improving their knowledge of the Siemens Simatic S7 programming environment, especially first-time users. The programmer now has an additional resource at their disposal, and the quicksteps summary pages make easy reference to key topics. If you work with the Siemens S7-300 or S7-400 modular PLC systems, this book deserves a place in your reference Library.

STEP 7 Programming Made Easy
Awesome book! Amazon.com
I received STEP 7 Programming Made Easy a couple of weeks ago. I’ve gone through the book, and it is fantastic. I recently changed careers from an EE designing HW and SW/FW to a controls project engineer at a system integrator. I knew nothing about controls engineering and programming, was hired on my word that I could pull it off, and needed some guidance on my first project, which is a Siemens project. Thanks to this book, I’m well on my way. This first project of mine has both S7-400 and S7-300 processors/cards.
Excellent resource! Amazon.com
If I had access to copies of Clarence T. Jones’ books, STEP 7 Programming Made Easy in LAD, FBD, and STEP 7 in 7 Steps, my first two weeks getting up to speed on the S7-300 and S7-400 automation systems would have been much easier and less stressful. I have since purchased both e-books. They are my most crucial STEP 7 reference manuals.
Far superior to anything I’ve found Amazon.com
The book is far superior to anything I have found so far in regards to programming and using STEP 7 for the S7-300 and S7-400 controllers. I am basically trying to learn this on my own and this book has answered many of my questions. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into this book as it shows how each topic is covered in great detail. Strongly recommend it to anyone trying to learn STEP 7.
